Pink Grandeur

Wandering through the majestic halls of the Palácio da Bolsa, I felt as though I had stepped into a dream. Light, stone, and silence told their stories — and from that, this artwork emerged.

Pink grandeur

On October 6, 1842, construction began on one of Porto’s most iconic landmarks — the Palácio da Bolsa (Stock Exchange Palace). Rising from the ashes of the burned-down São Francisco Convent, this neoclassical masterpiece was built to give Porto’s merchants a dignified place to trade after being left to negotiate in the open air.

Today, the Palácio da Bolsa is more than a symbol of the city’s commercial legacy — it’s a breathtaking architectural treasure. Step inside and you're greeted with a harmonious blend of styles, grand halls, and refined detail. The crown jewel? The legendary Arabian Room, where gilded Moorish Revival design and lavish gold-leaf details create a space as opulent as any European palace.

And for fans of architectural drama (like me), prepare to swoon over the grand granite staircase. With soaring ceilings and elegantly carved balustrades, it’s a space that feels like walking through a dream — the kind of place where you stop just to take it all in… or maybe even lick your fingers in delight.

If you’re visiting Porto and love art, architecture, history, or just great staircases, don’t miss this stunning piece of Portugal’s heritage.

This artwork was inspired by my visit to Porto’s Palácio da Bolsa — a stunning neoclassical palace known for its grand architecture and the famous Arabian Room. A perfect piece for lovers of historic interiors and European elegance.
